← Isaiah
- A. 1 Merodach-baladan king of Babylon sends envoys with letters and a gift to Hezekiah, having heard of his illness and recovery.
- B. 2 Hezekiah welcomes them gladly and shows them his entire treasure house — silver, gold, spices, precious oil, all his armory, everything in his storehouses. Nothing was hidden.
- C. 3 Isaiah comes to Hezekiah and asks: "What did these men say, and where did they come from?" Hezekiah answers: "They came from a far country — from Babylon."
- C'. 4 Isaiah asks: "What have they seen in your house?" Hezekiah answers: "They have seen everything in my house. There is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them."
- B'. 5-6 Isaiah pronounces the word of the LORD: all that is in your house and all your fathers stored up will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left.
- A'. 7-8 Some of your own sons will be taken to Babylon to be eunuchs in the king's palace. Hezekiah responds: "The word of the LORD is good" — for there will be peace in his days.
