  • A. 22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat;
  • B. 22b neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
  • A'. 23a The life is more than meat,
  • B'. 23b and the body is more than raiment.

  • 2A. 24a Consider the ravens:
  • 2B. 24b they neither sow nor reap;
  • 2C. 24c which neither have storehouse nor barn;
  • 2B'. 24d and God feedeth them:
  • 2A'. 24e how much more are ye better than the fowls?

  • 3A. 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
  • 3B. 26a If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least,
  • 3A'. 26b why take ye thought for the rest?

  • 4A. 27a Consider the lilies how they grow:
  • 4B. 27b they toil not, they spin not;
  • 4A'. 27c and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

  • 5A. 28a If then God so clothe the grass,
  • 5B. 28b which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven;
  • 5A'. 28c how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

  • 6A. 29a And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
  • 6B. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after:
  • 6A'. 30b and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

  • 7A. 31a But rather seek ye the kingdom of God;
  • 7B. 31b and all these things shall be added unto you.
  • 7A'. 32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

  • 8A. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not,
  • 8B. 33b where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
  • 8A'. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

  • 9A. 35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
  • 9B. 36a And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding;
  • 9C. 36b that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
  • 9B'. 37a Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:
  • 9A'. 37b verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

  • 10A. 38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
  • 10B. 39a And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come,
  • 10C. 39b he would have watched,
  • 10B'. 39c and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
  • 10A'. 40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
