- A. 1:1-5 That which was from the beginning...that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all
- B. 1:6-7a If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness...if we walk in the light, as he is in the light
- C. 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin...we make him a liar, and his truth is not in us
- D. 2:1-2 we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins
- C'. 2:3-5 he that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him
- B'. 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked
- A'. 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning
