- A. 1a Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us
- B. 1b-3 that we should be called the sons of God...now are we the sons of God...we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
- C. 4-6a Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law...in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not
- D. 6b whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
- E. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
- D'. 8a He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.
- C'. 8b-9 the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin...he cannot sin
- B'. 10a In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil
- A'. 10b-11 whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother...we should love one another.
