Connection Method(s): Analogy, Longitudinal Theme — The wisdom principle of honoring God with firstfruits operates as an enduring analogy applied comprehensively in the NT (time, wealth, priority), with Christ as the ultimate firstfruits of resurrection and believers called to give God first place in all things.

Christological Connection: The principle of firstfruits ultimately points to Christ and the Christian's response. Christ is the firstfruits of resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20), and believers are called to honor God with the firstfruits of all they have. The escalation: Israel gave the first sheaf of grain; Christians give their whole lives as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1). The NT applies the firstfruits principle comprehensively: Time (first day of the week set apart for worship, Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2). Wealth (2 Corinthians 9:7: "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart"). Priority (Matthew 6:33: "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness"). The pattern is the same: give God first place, and He will provide what you need.

Application: Are you honoring God with your wealth, or are you giving Him leftovers? Firstfruits means giving the first and best, not what remains after bills, entertainment, and savings. Examine your budget: Does God receive priority, or does He get what's left? The promise is not a blank check but a principle: God blesses faithful stewardship. If you honor Him with firstfruits, He will provide for your needs. This is not prosperity gospel (give to get rich) but covenant faithfulness (honor God, and He will honor you). Proverbs 3:5-6 precedes this command: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart." Giving firstfruits is an act of trust—trusting that God will provide the rest. Do you trust Him enough to give Him first place in your finances? "Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce."
