Greek Key Terms:
Context: Stephen's martyrdom. After delivering a lengthy sermon tracing Israel's history of rejecting God's messengers (Acts 7:2-53), Stephen is stoned by an enraged Sanhedrin. Before his death, filled with the Holy Spirit, he gazes into heaven and sees 'the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God' (v. 55), then declares: 'Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God' (v. 56). This is the only non-Gospel use of 'Son of Man' in the NT.

Connections:
Christological Connection: Stephen's vision is the first post-ascension confirmation that Jesus is the Danielic Son of Man enthroned at God's right hand. At Jesus' trial (Mark 14:62), He told the Sanhedrin 'you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power.' Now, the same council stoning Stephen receives that very witness through Stephen's testimony. The standing posture (rather than seated) is theologically significant. Some interpret it as Jesus rising to welcome Stephen home (cf. Psalm 16:11 'in your presence is fullness of joy'); others see it as Christ standing as advocate/witness for His martyred servant (cf. Luke 12:8 'the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God'). The standing posture may also echo Daniel 12:1, where Michael 'shall stand up' to defend God's people in their time of distress. Whatever the precise meaning, Stephen's vision validates: (1) Jesus' trial claim was true—He is the Son of Man at God's right hand; (2) the exalted Christ is present with His suffering church; (3) the earthly condemnation (both Jesus' and Stephen's) is reversed in heaven's court. This is the only non-Gospel use of 'Son of Man,' and it's significant that it comes from a martyr's lips, confirming that the crucified Jesus is the vindicated, exalted, Danielic Son of Man who will return to judge (Acts 1:11; 17:31).
Connection Method(s): Promise-Fulfillment; Redemptive-Historical Progression — Stephen's vision validates Jesus' trial claim (Mark 14:62) by confirming the crucified Jesus is now the exalted Son of Man standing at God's right hand, fulfilling Daniel 7:13 and Psalm 110:1 in post-ascension reality.
