What Are Longitudinal Themes?
A longitudinal theme is a big theological idea that runs from one end of the Bible to the other. Unlike a Trajectory Table (which traces a specific type like Adam or Passover), a longitudinal theme traces a broad concept — like covenant, temple, or kingdom — across the entire canon.
Each theme below traces its idea from its first appearance in Genesis through its development in the Old Testament to its fulfillment in Christ and its consummation in the new creation.
