Significance: Jesus appeals to pre-fall creation order to establish marriage's permanence and indissolubility. What God instituted before sin entered the world reflects his original intent and ultimate will for humanity. This hermeneutical principle means creation ordinances trump later Mosaic concessions made because of human hardness of heart. Christ's redemption aims to restore creation ideals, not perpetuate fallen accommodations. Jesus demonstrates that not all Torah is equally revelatory - creation mandates reveal God's perfect will while Deuteronomy 24 represents temporary accommodation to sin.
