Anchor Text: Ps 118:22 — The Stone the Builders Rejected
Significance: Jesus applies this Davidic psalm to himself, identifying as the rejected stone that becomes the cornerstone of God's new building. The imagery plays on Hebrew wordplay between ben (son) and eben (stone) - the Son rejected in the parable becomes the Stone in the psalm application. What the builders (religious leaders) deem worthless, God makes central and foundational. This is "the Lord's doing," God's sovereign reversal of human rejection. The rejected Messiah becomes the foundation of the church, God's new covenant community built on Christ.
