Significance: Jesus recapitulates Israel's wilderness testing but succeeds where Israel failed. Moses' instruction to trust God's word above physical provision becomes Jesus' defense against Satan. Where Israel grumbled and doubted God's provision (desiring bread), Jesus trusts the Father completely. This establishes Jesus as the obedient Son who lives by every word from God's mouth.
