Significance: The "after three days" resurrection timing in the passion predictions (Mark 8:31; 9:31; 10:34) has been connected by NT scholars to Hosea 6:2 — "After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live before him." In Hosea's context, the language refers to Israel's national restoration after judgment, but the "third day" timing is resonant enough that Paul appears to appeal to this background in 1 Corinthians 15:4, where the resurrection "on the third day according to the Scriptures" requires an OT referent beyond explicit resurrection prophecy. Hosea 6:2 provides the scriptural pattern of divine restoration on the third day — a pattern that becomes typologically significant for understanding Christ's resurrection. The passion predictions thus embed within their timing a scriptural signal: the resurrection is not an accident but follows a divinely ordered pattern attested in Israel's own hope for national restoration.
