Significance: The phrase "delivered into the hands of men" (paradidotai eis cheiras anthrōpōn) in Mark 9:31 resonates with Daniel 7:25's prediction that the saints would be "given into his hand (yityahabun biydeh)" for a period. Daniel 7 depicts the Son of Man figure as the representative of "the holy ones of the Most High" (Daniel 7:18, 22, 27), who suffer under the beast before receiving the kingdom. Jesus, who elsewhere identifies himself as the Danielic Son of Man, appears to draw on this pattern: the Son of Man's being "delivered into the hands of men" recapitulates the Danielic pattern where God's representative is temporarily given into hostile human power before vindication. The resurrection "after three days" represents the eschatological reversal Daniel anticipates — the Son of Man who was handed over ultimately receives the everlasting kingdom (Daniel 7:14, 27). This connection is theoretical in that it is not cited explicitly but arises from the shared Son-of-Man framework that Jesus consistently employs.
