Significance: In his Olivet Discourse (Luke 21:8-11), Jesus uses apocalyptic language echoing OT prophecy. He warns against false messiahs (cf. Jeremiah's warnings about false prophets in 14:15; 29:8), describes wars and cosmic upheavals typical of judgment passages. These signs precede the end but aren't the end itself—disciples must endure through tribulation, as Daniel 7:21-22 depicts persecution before kingdom arrival.
