Significance: Jesus argues: if Scripture calls human judges/leaders "gods" (ĕlōhîm—divine representatives administering justice), how much more appropriate for him whom Father consecrated and sent. Not abolishing monotheism but revealing union of divine and human. Affirms inviolability of Scripture (10:35: "Scripture cannot be broken"). "Your law" = ironic polemic (cf. 8:17).
