Anchor Text: Zech 9:9 — Behold Your King Comes
Significance: Jesus deliberately enacts Zechariah's prophecy of peaceful messianic king. Independent adaptation of LXX/MT: "do not fear" replaces "rejoice greatly" (from Isaiah 40:9); "sitting" not "mounting" (emphasizes regal dignity); "colt of donkey" from Genesis 49:11. Omits "righteous and having salvation, humble"—but still implied. Donkey = peace, humility (contrast war horse). Juxtaposes peace with ultimate victory. Disciples didn't understand until after resurrection (12:16).
