Significance: Background = Isaiah 6 call narrative. Targum Jonathan changes "I saw the Lord" to "I saw the glory of the Lord" and "King" to "glory of the shekinah." Evangelist says Isaiah saw Jesus' glory (not Jesus himself directly). Isaiah foresaw God's pleasure in Suffering Servant who would be "lifted up" (52:13) yet "pierced" (53:5, 12). Like Abraham, Isaiah saw Jesus' "day" (cf. 8:58). Demonstrates Suffering Servant = Jesus.
