Connection Method(s): Longitudinal Theme

Significance: Only instance of nikaō ("triumph") in John's Gospel. Occurs several times in 1 John (2:13, 14; 4:4; 5:4-5) and dozen+ times in Revelation (especially letters to seven churches, chs. 2-3). Occurs rarely in canonical OT Greek; more often in apocryphal/pseudepigraphical literature (Wisdom; 1 Esdras). Psalm 50:6 LXX shows God as conqueror. Schlatter; cf.
