Significance: The composite OT quotation in Acts 15:16-18 may reflect Zech 8:22's vision of Gentile nations seeking the Lord, as part of the broader web of restoration prophecies James is weaving together. Zechariah 8:22-23 promises that "many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem" and that "ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, 'Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'" This is precisely the situation the Jerusalem council is deliberating: Gentiles are "turning to God" (Acts 15:19) in response to the gospel without full conversion to Judaism, which the Zechariah passage envisions as the eschatological pattern. The "known for ages" statement in Acts 15:18 suggests James views all these OT strands together as the unified divine plan revealed through the ages to the prophets.
