Significance: The risen Jesus' command to Paul "But get up and stand on your feet" (anastēthi kai stēthi epi tous podas sou) directly echoes Ezek 2:1-2, where God commands the prostrate prophet: "He said to me, 'Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you'" ('amōd 'al-ragléka we'adaber 'itak). Both scenes follow a visionary encounter that leaves the recipient prostrate; both involve an immediate divine command to rise preceding a prophetic commission. The structural parallel positions Paul as a new Ezekiel-like prophet commissioned by the glorified divine presence — though the commission now comes not from the throne-chariot vision but from the risen Christ. The further elements of the commission in Acts 26:16-18 (appointment as witness, mission to both Jews and Gentiles, promised rescue from enemies) elaborate the Ezekielian prophetic call pattern in Christological terms.
