Reference Type: Allusion
Connection Method(s): Promise-Fulfillment + Longitudinal Theme
Significance: Paul's declaration that women "will be saved through childbearing" (dia tēs teknogonias) alludes to Genesis 3:16, where God declares that the woman will bear children in pain — a consequence of the fall. The TSK directly connects these verses. Paul's statement reverses the curse logic: what was pronounced as judgment (painful childbearing) becomes a sphere of salvation. This also resonates with the protoevangelium of Genesis 3:15, where it is through the woman's seed that the serpent is ultimately defeated. The "childbearing" may thus carry a double reference — both to the faithful vocation of motherhood and to the particular Child (Christ) born of woman (Gal 4:4) through whom salvation comes. The allusion traces a longitudinal theme from curse to redemption through the woman's seed.
