Significance: The inscription on God's foundation in 2 Timothy 2:19b reads "Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity" (apostētō apo adikias pas ho onomazōn to onoma kyriou). This alludes to Isaiah 26:13, where the faithful remnant confesses that though other lords have ruled them, they will acknowledge only YHWH's name (shim-ka nazkir). The TSK links this verse to passages about bearing and honoring the divine name. The connection is analogical: just as Israel's confession of YHWH's exclusive lordship required departing from idolatry and foreign allegiance, so the Christian's confession of Christ's name demands moral separation from iniquity. Paul applies the prophetic logic — true naming of the Lord entails exclusive loyalty — to the pastoral crisis of false teaching in Ephesus.
