Anchor Text: Psalm 110 — The Right-Hand Session and the Melchizedekian Priest
Significance: Fourth allusion to Psalm 110:1. Emphasizes finality of Christ's sacrifice—he "sat down" (vs. earthly priests who "stand daily"). Exaltation demonstrates completeness of his work. Now awaits eschatological subjugation of enemies. The sitting posture signals work completed—no more sacrifice needed. The "waiting" introduces inaugurated eschatology tension: Christ's atoning work is finished, but final consummation (enemies as footstool) remains future. This sustains hope during present suffering.
Prosopological Shift: Auditor (David's anticipated Lord → the Son seated in his completed priestly work). The same prosopological logic as Hebrews 1:13, now applied as the structural climax of the priestly argument: the Son is seated because his single offering has finally accomplished what repeated sacrifices could not.
