Significance: Forms "lesser" part of qal wahomer argument. If covenant breakers under old covenant died without mercy, how much worse punishment for those who trample Son of God, profane covenant blood, outrage Spirit of grace (10:29). Escalates severity of apostasy under new covenant. The logic: if violation of the inferior covenant merited death, how much more severe the punishment for despising the Son, profaning his sacrificial blood, and insulting the Spirit. Greater privilege means greater accountability.
