Significance: First human example of faith. Abel's blood "still speaks" (cf. Gen. 4:10, echoed in Heb. 12:24). Faith expressed through right sacrifice. The Genesis narrative doesn't explicitly mention Abel's faith, but Hebrews interprets his acceptable sacrifice as evidence of faith—he brought what pleased God. The continuing testimony ("through his faith he still speaks") demonstrates faith's enduring witness beyond death.
