Significance: John's "anointing (χρῖσμα) from the Holy One" draws on the sacred anointing oil tradition of Exodus 30:22-33, where a specially formulated oil consecrated priests, the tabernacle, and its furnishings for holy service. The anointing set apart the consecrated for God's purposes and was forbidden for common use (Exod 30:32-33). John's χρῖσμα is linguistically connected to Χριστός ("Anointed One") — believers share in Christ's own anointing by the Holy Spirit. What was reserved for priests and kings under the old covenant is now given to every believer, who needs "no one to teach you" (2:27) because the anointing itself "teaches you about all things." The existing IP (2:27 to Jeremiah 31:33-34) captures the internalization dimension; this IP captures the priestly-anointing typology.
