Significance: In Ezekiel 10:2-4, the glory of YHWH fills the temple with a cloud and brightness as coals of fire are taken from between the cherubim for judgment on Jerusalem. Similarly, Revelation 15:8 describes the heavenly temple "filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power" so that no one could enter until the seven plagues were completed. Both scenes depict the glory-cloud filling the temple as a prelude to judgment — in Ezekiel upon apostate Jerusalem, in Revelation upon the beast's kingdom. The motif also echoes the original Sinai theophany (Exod 40:34-35) and Solomon's dedication (1 Kgs 8:10-11), where no one could enter or minister because of the glory. The escalation is from localized historical judgments to the final, universal outpouring of divine wrath.
