NT Text: Revelation 19:15

Reference Type: Allusion
Connection Method(s): Promise-Fulfillment + Longitudinal Theme
Significance: The returning Christ "treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty," directly taking up Isaiah's vision of the lone warrior from Edom: "I have trodden the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with Me. I trampled them in My anger... their blood spattered My garments" (Isa 63:3). Isaiah's figure proclaims himself "mighty to save" even as His garments are crimson-stained with the blood of judgment, and John identifies that warrior as the Word of God, robed in blood (Rev 19:13), executing the long-promised day of vengeance. This is promise-fulfillment running through the Divine Warrior longitudinal theme: the God who fought for His people across Israel's history now appears in person to crush all hostile power. The escalation is that the warrior is the Lamb who was slain — the one whose own blood was poured out now pours out wrath in perfect justice. The connection lands not on terror alone but on the saving might of the Redeemer, whose triumph secures His Bride and vindicates the blood of His servants; His justice is the ground of His people's everlasting safety and joy.
