Significance: Ezekiel 39:17-20 records YHWH's command: "Speak to every kind of bird and to all the wild animals: 'Assemble and come together ... to eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth.'" Revelation 19:17-18 directly echoes this: "Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and commanders and mighty men." The verbal parallels are extensive: birds summoned, flesh of mighty men/kings consumed, and the scope including "horses and riders." John identifies this as "the great supper of God" (to deipnon to mega tou theou), deliberately contrasting it with "the marriage supper of the Lamb" (19:9). Ezekiel's Gog oracle becomes the template for the final battle, with the gruesome feast signaling the utter defeat of the beast's coalition.
