Anchor Text: Psalm 2 — You Are My Son
Significance: Psalm 2:2 describes the nations' rebellion: "The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against YHWH and against His anointed." Revelation 19:19 depicts the same scene eschatologically: "the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies assembled to wage war against the One seated on the horse, and against His army." The verbal correspondence — kings of the earth gathered against the Lord's anointed — is unmistakable. Psalm 2 begins with defiant assembly (v. 2) and ends with the Anointed's iron-rod rule (v. 9), and Revelation 19 enacts both: the gathering (v. 19) and the iron-scepter judgment (v. 15). The early church already read Psalm 2 as fulfilled in Christ's passion (Acts 4:25-28); John shows its final fulfillment at the parousia, creating a double fulfillment pattern spanning the already/not-yet framework.
