Anchor Text: Isa 61:1-2 — The Spirit of the Lord
Significance: Isaiah 61:10 exults, "He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." Revelation 19:7-8 fulfills this: "His bride has made herself ready. She was given clothing of fine linen, bright and pure — for the fine linen she wears is the righteous acts of the saints." Both texts link salvation garments, bridal adornment, and righteousness. Isaiah's "robe of righteousness" becomes the "fine linen" of righteous deeds. The "given" (edothē) in Revelation emphasizes that even the bride's preparation is a divine gift — the righteousness is granted, not self-generated. Isaiah 61 is the passage Jesus read in the Nazareth synagogue (Luke 4:18-19), and its bridal imagery here finds its consummation in the marriage supper of the Lamb.
