Significance: Daniel 7:9 describes the heavenly judgment scene: "thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool." Revelation 20:11 describes "a great white throne and the One seated on it." The white throne corresponds to Daniel's white-garmented judge; the cosmic scope of "earth and heaven fled from His presence" escalates Daniel's courtroom to universal judgment. Daniel's throne scene leads to the vindication of the saints and the defeat of the beasts; Revelation's leads to the judgment of "the dead, great and small." The Danielic allusion identifies the One on the great white throne with the Ancient of Days — a significant christological claim, since Revelation consistently applies divine attributes to Christ.
