Significance: Isaiah 40:10 describes YHWH's coming: "See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and He rules with a mighty arm. See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him." Revelation 22:12 puts these words in Christ's mouth: "My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done." The verbal correspondence — "reward/recompense with Him" (sekaro itto / ho misthos mou met' emou) — is precise. Isaiah 40 is the great comfort chapter announcing the end of exile and YHWH's personal coming to shepherd His people. By placing Isaiah 40:10's words on Jesus' lips, Revelation makes an extraordinary christological claim: Christ's parousia IS the coming of YHWH that Isaiah announced. This is reinforced by Isaiah 62:11, which repeats the same formula. The "reward with Me" motif underscores that judgment and salvation are personal — brought by the returning Christ Himself.
