Significance: Isaiah 56:3-5 promises eunuchs and foreigners — those excluded from the assembly under the Mosaic law (Deut 23:1-3) — "a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off." Christ's promise in Revelation 3:12 to write upon the overcomer "the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God... and My new name" fulfills this Isaianic vision of permanent inclusion and identity. The emphasis on "never again leaving" the temple and receiving a permanent name directly addresses the exclusion anxiety of Isaiah's marginalized groups. What Isaiah promised to the outsiders who "hold fast to my covenant," Christ now grants to every overcomer: an unshakeable identity, a permanent place in God's temple, and the divine name inscribed upon them. The "pillar in the temple" imagery further reinforces permanence — pillars are structural, immovable, and essential.
