Reference Type: Direct Quotation
Connection Method(s): Typology + Promise-Fulfillment
Significance: Isaiah 22:22 describes Eliakim receiving the key of the house of David with absolute authority to open and shut. Christ applies this Davidic stewardship authority to Himself as the ultimate fulfillment, possessing absolute control over access to God's kingdom. While Eliakim was a faithful but temporary steward, Christ as the Davidic heir exercises permanent and exclusive authority. This messianic fulfillment assures Philadelphia that despite their weakness, Christ guarantees their secure access to the kingdom that no human or demonic power can revoke.
