Significance: Isaiah 49:10 is part of the second Servant Song's expansion, promising that the redeemed of YHWH returning from exile will experience supernatural provision: no hunger, no thirst, no scorching heat, guided to springs of water. John's vision of the great multitude in Revelation 7:16-17 nearly quotes this passage verbatim, applying it to those who have "come out of the great tribulation." The New Exodus pattern is unmistakable: just as God provided for Israel in the wilderness (water from rock, manna, shade by cloud), and promised renewed provision through the Servant, so Christ the Lamb "will shepherd them and lead them to springs of living water." The escalation is crucial: in Isaiah, YHWH guides; in Revelation, the Lamb shepherds — the divine Shepherd function is now exercised by Christ. The ultimate fulfillment transforms exile's hardships into eternal comfort.
