Anchor Text: Gen 1:28 — The Adamic Commission

Significance: The post-Aqedah oath joins the commission's fruitfulness mandate to its dominion mandate for the Abrahamic seed. "I will multiply (rābâ) your descendants like the stars... and the sand" reapplies the multiplication verb, while "your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies" picks up the kābaš ("subdue") and rādâ ("rule") clauses of Gen 1:28 — the Adamic dominion now exercised over hostile powers. The escalation is significant: after the Fall, the commission must be carried out against opposition (Gen 3:15), so "subdue the earth" becomes "possess the gate of enemies." This is the verse Hebrews 11:12 cites and Paul develops in Galatians 3, identifying the Abrahamic seed singularly with Christ. The Adamic dominion reapplied to Abraham's seed lands in the Last Adam, who subdues every enemy and puts all things under his feet (1 Cor 15:25-27; Rev 5:9-10).
