Significance: These are parallel genealogical records of the Hamite sub-clans. Genesis 10:13-18 lists the descendants of Mizraim (the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, Pathrusites, Casluhites, and Caphtorites) and of Canaan (Sidon, the Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites). 1 Chronicles 1:11-16 reproduces this same list of Hamite peoples nearly verbatim. Notably, the Canaanite peoples listed here are precisely the nations Israel was called to dispossess (cf.
