Text: 1 Chronicles 29:27
OT Text Referred to: 1 Kings 2:10
Subject: death of David

Reference Type: Allusion
Connection Method(s): None
Significance: Both passages record David's death and the length of his reign. In 1 Kings 2:10, the notice is terse: "Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David." The Chronicler in 1 Chronicles 29:27 provides the same information — "He reigned over Israel forty years: seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem" — but embeds it within a much grander context of David's final prayer of praise and the assembly's worship. The Chronicler frames David's death not as the end of political power but as the culmination of a life oriented toward the temple David prepared but could not build.
