Text: 2 Chronicles 20:31
OT Text Referred to: 1 Kings 22:41
Subject: rule of Jehoshaphat

Reference Type: Allusion
Connection Method(s): None
Significance: Both texts provide the regnal introduction for Jehoshaphat, noting he became king at age 35 and reigned 25 years. They agree on the positive evaluation that "he walked in the ways of his father Asa." However, the Chronicler places this summary at the end of four chapters of extensive material about Jehoshaphat (2 Chr 17-20), including his judicial reforms, the miraculous victory over the Moabite-Ammonite coalition through worship and prayer, and prophetic interactions — all absent from Kings. The Kings account by contrast devotes most of its Jehoshaphat material to the Ahab alliance and the Ramoth-gilead campaign.
