OT Text Referred to: Numbers 9:9
Subject: delayed Passover observance

Reference Type: Allusion
Connection Method(s): Longitudinal Theme
Significance: Numbers 9:9-11 provides a divine ruling that those unable to observe Passover at the appointed time (due to corpse contamination or being on a distant journey) may celebrate it on the fourteenth day of the second month instead. 2 Chronicles 30:2 records Hezekiah applying this very provision: "The king, his officials, and the whole assembly in Jerusalem decided to celebrate the Passover in the second month" because insufficient priests had consecrated themselves and the people had not gathered in Jerusalem in time. Hezekiah's use of the Numbers 9 delayed-Passover provision demonstrates how wilderness legislation provided practical flexibility for later generations facing unforeseen circumstances.
