Significance: Both texts introduce Amon's brief two-year reign with the standard formula: age 22 at accession. Both record his evil, noting he "did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done" — walking in the idolatrous ways Manasseh had followed. The Chronicler adds a pointed contrast: "he did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had humbled himself" (2 Chr 33:23). This addition presupposes the Chronicler's unique Manasseh repentance narrative and uses Amon's refusal to repent as the key distinction — Amon had his father's sins without his father's eventual humility.
