Text: 2 Chronicles 35:5-6
OT Text Referred to: Numbers 18:6
Subject: Levites as dedicated servants at Passover

Significance: Numbers 18:6 describes the Levites as divinely selected and "dedicated to the LORD to perform the service for the Tent of Meeting." 2 Chronicles 35:5-6 shows Josiah deploying the Levites in this very capacity: standing in the Holy Place by family divisions, slaughtering the Passover lambs, consecrating themselves for service. Josiah explicitly grounds his instructions in Mosaic authority -- "carry out the word of the LORD given by Moses" -- demonstrating that the Chronicler understood the Levitical service structure of Numbers 18 as the binding norm for all subsequent temple worship. The Levites' role as preparers and assistants, distinct from the priests' sacral functions, follows directly from the Numbers charter.
