2 Chronicles 36:7 to 2 Kings 24:13

Text: 2 Chronicles 36:7

OT Text Referred to: 2 Kings 24:13

Subject: removal of temple vessels

Source: Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Reference Type: Allusion

Connection Method(s): None

Significance: Both passages record the removal of temple vessels to Babylon. In 2 Kings 24:13, the gold articles Solomon made are "cut in pieces" — an act of deliberate desecration. The Chronicler in 2 Chronicles 36:7 records that Nebuchadnezzar "brought some of the articles of the house of the LORD to Babylon and put them in his temple in Babylon." The Chronicler's detail about placement "in his temple" (בְּהֵיכָלוֹ, behekhalo) adds theological significance: Yahweh's vessels are placed in a pagan temple, symbolizing Israel's God apparently defeated by Babylon's gods — a humiliation reversed when Cyrus returns these very vessels (Ezra 1:7).
