Significance: Numbers 14:32 pronounces wilderness death on the rebellious generation. Psalm 106:24 provides the theological diagnosis: "They despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His promise." The psalmist identifies two linked failures: despising (מָאַס, ma'as) the land and disbelieving God's promise.
