Anchor Text: Psalm 110 — The Right-Hand Session and the Melchizedekian Priest
Significance: In 1 Kings 5:19 (Heb. 5:5), Solomon tells Hiram he intends to build the temple "for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to my father David," noting that God has given him rest from enemies "under the soles of his feet" (תַּחַת כַּפּוֹת רַגְלָיו, tachat kappot raglav). This echoes Psalm 110:1, where the LORD says to David's lord, "Sit at My right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet" (הֲדֹם לְרַגְלֶיךָ, hadom leragleykha). Solomon's achieved rest — enemies subdued beneath his feet — represents a partial, historical realization of the royal dominion Psalm 110 envisions for the messianic king-priest.
