Text: Isaiah 43:19-20
OT Text Referred to: Exodus 14
Subject: Creation account and divine ordering
Source: Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Reference Type: Allusion
Connection Method(s): Typology
Significance: Isaiah 43:19-20 envisions the new exodus surpassing the original: "I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The wild animals honor Me... because I provide water in the wilderness." While Exodus 14 records God making a path through the sea for Israel, Isaiah 43 promises a path through the wilderness with abundant water — addressing the hardship that characterized the original wilderness journey after the sea crossing. The exodus from Egypt provided miraculous passage; the new exodus promises miraculous provision. Even the animals of the desert will recognize what God has done.
