Isaiah 43:7 to Exodus 14

Text: Isaiah 43:7

OT Text Referred to: Exodus 14

Subject: Israel's creator, redeemer, and provider

Source: Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Reference Type: Echo

Connection Method(s): Longitudinal Theme

Significance: Isaiah 43:7 describes the scattered exiles as those "created for My glory (כְּבוֹדִי, kevodi), whom I have indeed formed and made (יְצַרְתִּיו אַף עֲשִׂיתִיו)." The triple use of creation verbs (בָּרָא, יָצַר, עָשָׂה) intensifies the creation-redemption connection. The purpose — "for My glory" — links to the Exodus 14 narrative where the entire deliverance through the sea was orchestrated so that God would "gain honor" (כָּבוֹד, kavod) through Pharaoh (Ex 14:4, 17-18). Both texts present God's redemptive acts as demonstrations of His glory: the exodus displayed glory through military deliverance; the return from exile displays glory through the regathering of a scattered people from the ends of the earth (43:5-6).
