Anchor Text: Ps 89 — The Davidic Covenant Psalm

Significance: Isaiah 55:3 invites Israel to receive "the faithful mercies of David" (חַסְדֵי דָוִד הַנֶּאֱמָנִים, chasdei David hanne'emanim) — an "everlasting covenant" (בְּרִית עוֹלָם, berit olam). Psalm 89:28 uses nearly identical language: "I will maintain My loving devotion (חַסְדִּי, chasdi) for him forever, and My covenant will stand firm with him." Both passages ground the Davidic covenant in God's חֶסֶד (chesed, "covenant love/faithfulness"). The crucial development in Isaiah is that the Davidic covenant's benefits, previously concentrated in the royal house, are now democratized — extended to "you" (plural), the people as a whole. The individual king's covenant becomes the nation's inheritance.
