Text: Isaiah 56:6-7
OT Text Referred to: 2 Chronicles 6:32-33
Subject: Temple as house of prayer for all nations
Source: Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Reference Type: Echo
Connection Method(s): Longitudinal Theme
Significance: Solomon's prayer for the foreigner (nokhri) who comes to the temple because of God's "great Name" (2 Chr 6:32-33) finds prophetic development in Isaiah 56:6-7, where God promises that foreigners who "join themselves to the LORD" will be brought to His "holy mountain" and their offerings accepted, "for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples" (beit tefillah le-khol ha-ammim). Both texts envision the temple as a site of gentile worship, but Isaiah 56 expands Solomon's petition into an eschatological promise of universal inclusion in Israel's worship.
