Significance: Isaiah 63:13 recalls that God "led them through the depths (תְּהֹמוֹת, tehomot)," using the same cosmic deep-waters vocabulary found in the Song of the Sea, Exodus 15:5: "the depths (תְּהֹמֹת, tehomot) covered them." Both passages use the distinctive plural of תְּהוֹם (tehom, "deep/abyss") — a word with creation overtones from Genesis 1:2. In Exodus 15, the depths swallow the Egyptians; in Isaiah 63, God leads Israel safely through those same depths. Isaiah's prayer reinterprets the exodus through the lens of creation theology: the God who mastered the primordial deep at creation also mastered the sea's depths for Israel's deliverance.
